I design a special session for each client every time they come in because I believe a massage is far more effective if it is designed for that client's specific needs. To that end, I will want to spend a few minutes talking to you about how you're feeling, how your day has gone, what unusual or strenuous activities you've engaged in, if there are any special stresses in your life and what specific goals you have for this session, even if you've been to see me recently.
Please be specific about what it is you want and feel you need; we'll both be a lot happier if the session is perfect for you! I usually use a variety of modalities and techniques in every session in order to work with your body the best way possible. If you know that certain things work best for you (or need to be avoided at all costs), do please let me know. And don't be afraid to ask questions, please!
Feel free to bring your own music CD if the aural environment is important to you. I have a fairly wide selection of music on hand, but I'm always delighted to play what you like best.
Please be sure to let me know in advance of your appointment if you have any allergies or unusual sensitivities so I can accommodate your needs. I usually have a scented candle burning since most people find pleasant smells relaxing; let me know if I need to extinguish the candle and air out the room, or use hypoallergenic lubricant.
If you have any type of special needs, make sure to tell me; I want you to be comfortable and to feel safe and cared for at all times!
Finally, let me remind you that it is your body and I have no nerves implanted in it, so you'll just have to speak up and tell me if there is anything I can do to make you more comfortable. Too hot, too cold, not enough pressure, too much pressure, can I have an extra cushion -- whatever it is you need, I'll figure out a way to make it happen. But only if you tell me.
